Highlassies finish in fourth at Southwest District Championship
The McLennan Highlassies shot 315-298-301 – 914 to finish in fourth place at the NJCAA Southwest District Championship in Sun City West, Arizona.
Western Texas finished in first place with 295- 294-297 – 886, followed by Odessa in second with 295-300-304 – 899 and Redlands in third with 300-302-308 – 918.
Mia Clarke shot 74-73-70 – 217 to lead McLennan and finish in second place.
Other McLennan scores: Raeleigh Davidson, tied for fourth, 74-70-75 – 219; Lucile Tanvet, tied for 26th, 84-75-78 – 237; Shannon Sandoval,tied for 32nd, 85-80-78 – 243; and Rebecca Rodriguez, 38th, 83-88-80 – 251.
Other team scores: Mesa, fifth, 302-302-311 – 915; South Mountain, seventh, 323-308-305 – 936; Pima, eighth, 311-327-321 – 959; Seminole State (Oklahoma), ninth, 349-339-358 – 1,046; and North Central Texas withdrew due to injury.
Clarke and Davidson earned All-District Team honors for McLennan.
Western Texas and Odessa receive automatic bids to the NJCAA National Championship. The other teams will be seeking an at-large bid by the selection committee next week.
