No. 8 McLennan Highlassies roll over Midland
Long balls were the shot of the night as the McLennan Highlassies drained 10 from 3-point range to demolish the Midland Chaparrals 67-41.
Midland began the scoring with a Franka Kraus 3-pointer less than 15 seconds into the game and led 6-4 with eight minutes to go in the first quarter. McLennan took control with an 8-0 run including seven points from Miannah Little to take the 12-6 lead. Midland trimmed the lead tothree with a Luisa Anderegg 3-pointer, and the Highlassies led 22-16 going into the final period. The second quarter was all McLennan. The Highlassies broke the game open with an 8-0 run and outscored the Lady Chaps 9-3 in the period to take the 31-19 lead at halftime.
McLennan continued to roll in the third as the Midland shooters remained cold. The Highlassies opened on an 10-0 run to extend their lead to 22, 41-19, before Midland's Nikki Sainsbury found the basket with 7:21 to go in the quarter. McLennan remained in control down the stretch and led 51-24 going into the fourth quarter. With the game in hand, the Highlassie bench to advantage of some valuable playing time. Kennedi Rowland scored six in the frame as the squad claimed the lopsided victory.
Chelsea Wooten led McLennan with 17 points including five 3-pointers. Miannah Little added 13 and Saneea Bevley scored 11.
