#1 Highlanders dominate #12 Whitecaps
The #1 McLennan Highlanders dominated #12 Galveston this afternoon a Bosque River Ballpark with a pair of 13-0 shut-out victories over the Whitecaps.
Brinly Maples picked up the win in the circle for game one.
The Highlanders scored five runs in the bottom of the first. Taylor Meier and Mickayla Tosch both walked. Meier stole home, and Tosch scored on a double by Trinity Allen. Kyla Heine doubled, and Katia Reyes singled to score Allen. Chesnee Faile's sacrifice fly scored Heine, and Madison Hornback singled to score Reyes.
Five more McLennan runs scored in the second. Meier singled, stole second and scored on a double by Tosch. Allen walked, and Tosch scored on a single by Heine. Reyes walked, and Heine scored on a single by Faile. Hornback singled to score Reyes, and Faile scored on a sacrifice fly by Maples.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with three runs in the third. Meier singled and scored on a double by Tosch. Allen singled but was out on a fielder's choice by Heine. Reyes' sacrifice fly score Tosch, and Lilly Rocha doubled to score Heine.
Game two was another 13-0 shutout with Taryn Batterton getting the win in the circle.
The first Highlander run came in the bottom of the first. Meier drew a lead-off walk. Tosh and Allen were both hit by the pitch, loading the base. Meier scored when Rocha hit into a double play.
Six McLennan runs scored in the second. Hornback walked and Faile doubled. Ellie Loveless followed with a three-run homer. Madison Garcia walked and stole second and scored on a single by Meier. Meier stole second and score on a double by Tosch. Tosch advanced to third on a ground out by Allen, and scored on a single by Heine.
The Highlanders added another six runs in the third. Faile singled, Loveless walked and Garcia singled, loading the bases. Meier singled to score Faile and Loveless. Garcia advanced on a fly out by Tosch, and scored on a wild pitch. Makenzi Jenkins walked, and Aynsli Lawson tripled to score Meier and Jenkins. Lawson then scored on a sacrifice fly by Rocha.
