The sixth-ranked McLennan Highlanders pushed their winning streak to 15 games with a pair of shut-out victories this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan began the day with a dominating 8-0 win over the Howard Hawks.
The Highlanders scored four runs in the second inning. Chesnee Faile walked, Makenzi Jenkins singled and Ally Thompson walked to load the bases. Sarah Johnson walked, scoring Faile, and Maddie Moore walked to score Jenkins. Thompson scored on a fielder's choice by Taylor Meier, and Kyla Heine singled to score Moore.
Another Highlander runs scored in the fourth as Meier singled, stole second, advanced to third o n wild pitch and stole home. Johnson walked and both runners were safe on a fielder's choice by Moore. Meier walked, loading the bases. Johnson scored on a sacrifice fly by Heine, and Lilly Rocha walked. Katia Reyes then singled to score Moore and Meier.
The final three McLennan runs came in the bottom of the sixth, securing the run rule.
In the afternoon game, the Highlanders defeated Blinn 3-0 with Taryn Batterton in the circle.
McLennan scored on e run in the third. Madison Hornback walked and Rocha reached on an error. Meier singled, loading the bases. Trinity Allen then walked to score Hornback.
The final two Highlanders runs came in the fifth. Allen singled and scored on a double by Heine. Heine then scored on a double by Reyes.
