Highlanders top Roadrunners in late game
After a day full of weather delays, the sixth-ranked McLennan Highlanders ended the night with a 4-1 win over the Angelina Roadrunners.
The Highlanders got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second. Madison Hornback tripled and Taylor Meier walked. The double steal brought Hornback in to score.
Angelina tied the game with a run in the top of the third as Riley Davila singled and scored on a triple by Kaetlyn Dunbar.
McLennan took the lead with a run in the fifth. Sarah Johnson singled and stole second. Meier then singled to score Johnson.
The Highlanders added another two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Hornback singled and scored on a single by Johnson. Johnson advanced to second on the throw and scored on an error.
McLennan will close the weekend with a pair of games Sunday. The Highlanders will face Angelina at noon and Tyler at 5 p.m.
