McLennan Softball ends season as Region V Runner-up
The ninth-ranked McLennan Softball squad finished the season as the Region V Runner-up with a 4-3 loss to No. 5 Grayson this afternoon in the tournament championship.
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Erin Plunkett walked and Sydney Kirby singled. Riley Rutherford then singled to score Plunkett.
Grayson took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning as Daeya Moses singled and score on Amiah Galcatcher's home run.
Grayson added a run in the second. Kye Stone was hit by the pitch and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kennedy Fisher. Ellie Vance then singled to score Stone.
McLennan tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. Plunkett singled and scored on a double by Kirby. Rutherford then singled to score Kirby.
Grayson stole the win with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Vance and Carsyn Cox both singled, and Moses was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Kenna Collett then singled to score Vance, ending the game.
