McLennan stays alive with a win over Temple
After an overnight postponement due to inclement weather, the ninth-ranked McLennan Softball squad came from behind to defeat the Temple Leopards 4-3 in the Region V Tournament.
Darby Hickey began the scoring for the Leopards with a solo home run in the top of the first inning.
Two more Temple runs scored in the third. Bre Jackson and Kennan Nunamaker both singled. Hickey then singled to score Jackson. Kate Maola drew a walk, and Nunamaker scored on a sacrifice fly by Hannah Wiggins.
McLennan got on the board with three runs in the fifth. Jalie Neff walked and scored on Kyla Heine's home run. Sydney Kirby then doubled to score Meier and tie the game.
A run in the bottom of the sixth gave McLennan the lead and the win. Madison Hornback singled and advanced to third on a sac bunt by Madelyn McKinnon. Neff then singled to score Hornback.
