McLennan run rules North Central in Region V Tournament
The ninth-ranked McLennan Softball stayed alive in the Region V Tournament with an 11-3 run-rule win over the North Central Lions this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan scored two runs in the bottom of the first as Taylor Meier doubled and scored on an Erin Plunkett home run.
North Central got on the board with a run in the top of the third. Laci Winchester was hit by the pitch and advanced on as sacrifice bunt by BreAnna Beste. Gabbi Smith followed with a double to score Winchester.
McLennan responded with nine runs in the bottom of the inning. Plunkett reached on an error and score on Sydney Kirby's home run. Riley Rutherford and Madison Hornback both walked. Jalie Neff then singled to score Rutherford, and Hornback scored on an error. Madelyn followed with a single to score. Neff. Kyla Heine singled and Meier walked, loading the bases. Plunkett followed with a grand slam.
North Central rounded out the scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth. Lauryn Davies single and both runners were safe on a fielder's choice by Annie Allgood. Davies scored on a ground out by Kimberlin Hopson, and Winchester singled to score Allgood.
