McLennan Softball gets pair of run-rule win over Cisco
McLennan Softball got a doubleheader sweep tonight under the lights as Bosque River Ballpark to complete the series sweep of Cisco.
Game one was a 12-4 run-rule win in six innings with Brinly Maples in the circle.
McLennan scored one run in the first. Riley Rutherford, Sydney Kirby and Jalie Neff all walked to load the bases. Rachel Wicker also walked, scoring Rutherford.
Three more McLennan runs scored in the second. Kyla Heine singled and stole second. Maples and Madison Hornback both walked to load the bases. Heine scored on a sacrifice fly by Rutherford. Kirby then doubled to score Maples and Hornback.
Cisco got on the board with a Kamryn Gomez two-run home run in the third.
Two more Cisco runs scored in the fourth tied the game. Kassidy Bradshaw singled and Alyssa Brister walked. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt by Lorena Rodriguez. Bethany Sherwood then singled to score Bradshaw and Brister.
McLennan took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth as Hornback tripled and scored on a sac bunt by Neff.
Three more McLennan runs scored in the fifth. Erin Plunkett reached on an error and Hornback singled. Rutherford followed with a three-run homer.
McLennan sealed the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Neff singled, Wicker doubled and Chesnee Faile walked to load the bases. A Maples sacrifice fly scored Neff. Plunkett then singled to score Wicker and Faile, and Hornback doubled to score Plunkett to end the game.
Game two was a 14-1 five-inning run-rule victory with Mattie Wolkow in the circle.
McLennan exploded for five runs in the first inning. Hornback walked, stole second and scored on a single by Rutherford. Wicker walked and Neff reached on an error. Kirby then singled to score Rutherford. Taylor Meier followed with a double to score Wicker and Neff. Madelyn McKinnon walked, and Kirby scored on a sacrifice fly by Heine.
Four more McLennan runs scored in the second. Rutherford doubled, advanced to third on a ground out by Wicker and scored on a single by Neff. Kirby doubled, and Meier singled to score Neff. Meier stole second, and Kirby scored on a ground out by McKinnon. Heine then singled to score Meier.
McLennan added five runs in the fourth. Neff and Kirby reached on errors. A fielder's choice by Meier put Kirby out at second. McKinnon singled to score Neff. Emma Bradley-Tse singled, and Katia Reyes followed with a grand slam.1
Cisco's only run was a solo home run by Camacho in the top of the fifth.
