No. 11 McLennan Softball sweeps Cisco
No. 11 McLennan Softball swept the Cisco Wranglers this afternoon in Cisco.
McLennan took game one 9-2 with Makenzi Jenkins getting the complete game win in the circle.
The first McLennan run came in the top of the first. Erin Plunkett singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Madison Hornback. Rachel Wicker then tripled to score Plunkett.
Cisco tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning. Amelia Wimmer singled and Kamryn Gomez doubled. Wimmer then scored on a single by Harley Staton.
McLennan took the lead with three runs in the third. Hornback led off with a solo home run. Wicker was hit by the pitch, and Jalie Neff singled. A fielder's choice by Riley Rutherford put Neff out at second. Rutherford stole second, and Wicker scored on a single by Chesnee Faile. Madelyn McKinnon was hit by the pitch, and Kyla Heine walked to score Rutherford.
Cisco scored a run in the fourth as Ella McLean doubled and scored on an error.
McLennan added four runs in the sixth. Plunkett doubled and scored on another Hornback home run. Sydney Kirby singled and was replaced by pinch runner Emma Bradley-Tse. Wicker doubled, and Bradley-Tse scored on a ground out by Neff. Faile walked, and Wicker stole home.
The final McLennan run came in the top of the seventh as McKinnon singled and scored on Heine's triple.
McLennan demolished Cisco 19-8 in six innings of game two with Katia Reyes in the circle.
Two McLennan runs scored in the top of the first as Rutherford reached on an error and scored on a Wicker's home run.
Cisco responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Gomez walked and Kayla Camacho reached on an error. Bethany Sherwood singled to score Gomez, and Kassidy Bradshaw followed with a three-run homer.
McLennan tied the game with two runs in the second. Taylor Meier and Faile both walked, and Heine was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Meier scored on sac fly by Plunkett. Hornback then singled to score Faile.
A run in the third gave McLennan the lead. Kirby doubled and advanced on a sac bunt by Meier. Heine then singled to score Kirby.
Two more McLennan runs scored in fourth. Hornback doubled and Rutherford singled. Hornback scored on a wild pitch, and Kirby walked. Meier then singled to score Rutherford.
Cisco regained the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Emily Wehnert singled and was replaced by pinch runner Sierra Bittner. McLean reached on an error, and Natalee Schmidt singled, loading the bases. Wimmer followed with a grand slam.
McLennan sealed the win with 12 runs in the top of the sixth inning. Wicker was hit by the pitch and Neff walked. Bradley-Tse came in as the pinch runner for Neff. Wicker and Bradley-Tse both scored on a triple by Meier. Faile walked and stole second, and Plunkett singled to load the bases. Hornback also singled, scoring Meier and Faile. Rutherford followed with a three-run homer. Wicker singled and Neff walked, both scoring on a triple by Kirby. Brinly Maples walked and was replaced by Meier as the runner at first. Faile doubled to score Kirby, and Heine singled to score Meier. Destiny Menchaca then singled to score Faile.
