McLennan Softball falls to Southern Idaho
The second-ranked McLennan Softball squad fell to No. 10 Southern Idaho 4-2 this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
Southern Idaho began the scoring with a Kenzee Hale home run in the third.
McLennan tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third. Taylor Meier drew a lead-off walk and advanced to third on a ground out by Erin Plunkett. Meier then score on a sacrifice fly by Rose Gonzales.
Southern Idaho took the lead again with a run in the fourth as Tasha Hokanson doubled and scored on a single by Gracie Tentinger.
McLennan tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Sydney Kirby walked and was replaced by pinch runner Emma Bradley-Tse. Bradley-Tse then advanced on a ground out by Meier and scored on a single by Rachel Wicker.
Southern Idaho sealed the win with two runs in the top of the eighth. With tiebreaker rules in effect, Hale began the inning on second base and scored on a double by Makenzie Evans. Evans was replaced by pinch runner Reagan Rex. Rex then advanced to third on a ground out by Taya Manzanares and scored on a single by Saige Nielson.
