The McLennan Softball squad closed out the weekend with its second doubleheader sweep in three days with a pair of wins over Trinity Valley this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
Brinly Maples got the 2-0 shutout victory in the circle of game one, recording eight strikeouts.
McLennan's first run came in the bottom of the fifth as Celeste Aguilar single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Destiny Menchaca and scored on a single by Sydney Kirby.
The final McLennan run came in the sixth. Rachel Wicker drew a two-out walk and Kyla Heine singled. Rose Gonzales followed with a single to score Wicker.
McLennan took game two 4-1. Mackenzi Jenkins picked up the win in the circle, recording 11 strikeouts.
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. Wicker singled and Gonzales walked. Erin Plunkett followed with a single to score Wicker.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the second. Kirby and Maples both singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Taylor Meier. Gonzales then tripled to score both runners.
McLennan's final run came in the third as Celeste Aguilar triple and stole home.
Trinity Valley's only run of the afternoon came in the top of the fifth as Emily Alvarez singled and scored on a triple by Haley Matney.
