McLennan Softball picked up a pair of shut-out victories this afternoon in Houston.
McLennan began the afternoon with a 2-0 win over the Tyler Apaches. Makenzi Jenkins got the complete-game win in the circle.
Riley Rutherford's solo home run put McLennan on the board in the first. The second run came in the second inning as Taylor Meier singled and scored on a double by Erin Plunkett.
McLennan finished the day with a 9-0 run-rule win over the host San Jacinto Coyotes. Brinly Maples picked up the win in the circle.
McLennan scored four runs in the top of the first. Meier walked and Erin Plunkett doubled. Meier came in to score on a ground out by Rutherford. Rose Gonzales singled to score Plunkett. Kyla Heine reached on an error and Sydney Kirby walked. Gonzales scored on a sacrifice fly by Jenkins, and Heine stole home.
Four more McLennan runs scored in the second. Celeste Aguilar doubled and Meier singled. Plunkett followed with a single to score Aguilar. Meier and Plunkett advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Rutherford, and Meier score on ground out by Gonzales. Heine singled to score Plunkett, and Kirby doubled to score Heine.
The final McLennan run scored in the third. Destiny Menchaca singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Aguilar. Meier singled and Menchaca scored on a sacrifice fly by Plunkett.
