McLennan Highlanders finish tied for eighth, Gobin named All-American
The McLennan Highlanders battled illness and less than ideal playing conditions to finish tied for eighth place with a score of 283-293-302-297 – 1,175 at the Division I National Championship at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.
Indian Hills (Iowa) finished in first with 278-284-280-285 – 1,127, followed by Odessa (Texas), in second with 288-288-275-287 – 1,138 and Midland in third with 286-286-282-288 – 1,142. New Mexico was fourth with 286-277-288-295 – 1,146 and Hutchinson (Kansas) was fifth with 289-291-288-293 – 1,161.
Liam Gobin led the Highlanders with 71-70-73-71 – 285 and finished in 10th place to earn Second-Team All-American honors.
