Highlanders finish sixth at NJCAA Preview, Gobin earns all-tournament honor
The McLennan Highlanders shot 291-293-306 – 890 to finish in sixth place at the NJCAA National Championship Preview at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. New Mexico finished atop the leaderboard with a three-round total of 858, followed by Hutchinson in second with 861 and Odessa in third with 885. Dodge City and Western Texas rounded out the top-5 with 886 and 888, respectively.
Sophomore Liam Gobin shot 72-73-73 – 217 to finish tied for eighth and earn all-tournament honors.
Other McLennan scores: Kyle Yuan, tied for 22nd, 72-73-77 – 222; Carter Patterson, tied for 40th, 73-74-80 – 227; Peter Clark, tied for 46th, 75-74-79 – 228; and Shoichiro Kato, tied for 59th, 74-80-77 – 231.
Other team scores: Indian Hills, seventh, 891; Barton County, eighth, 895; Midland, ninth, 899; Ranger, 10th, 900; Garden City, tied for 11th, 903; Weatherford, tied for 11th, 903; McCook, 13th, 909; Iowa Western, 14th, 917; and Eastern Wyoming, 15th, 920.
