Seven Highlanders and coach earn conference awards
Standout McLennan basketball sophomore guards Shannon Bogues and Isaiah Gurley along with five other Highlanders and head coach Kevin Gill were named to the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference Awards list for their stellar performances this season.
Bogues, a Killeen native, averaged 18.8 points per game to lead the Highlanders and earn the Player of the Year title. Gurley of Brooklyn, New York, was second on the Highlanders' squad with a 17.9 points per game average and was named Newcomer of the Year. Both Bogues and Gurley were named first-team all-conference selections along with sophomore guard Derrick Farquharson. Farquharson of Charlotte, North Carolina, averaged 12.7 points and led the team with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Jashawn Talton of Oklahoma City was named to the all-conference second team. Talton averaged 8.6 points and was second on the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.
