Welcome Home planned for MCC's newest National Champions
Join us at The Highlands Monday to welcome home MCC's newest national champions, the MCC Dance Company! The bus is scheduled to arrive between noon and 12:30 p.m. with two national championship trophies to add to the MCC collection.
On Friday, the team claimed the program's fifth consecutive National Dance Alliance (NDA) National Championship in with a first-place finish in the Junior College Team Performance Division. MCC's score of 88.18 was 1.5 points higher than Blinn College, the second-place finisher with a score of 86.68. Iowa Central Community College finished in third with 85.9. The is MCC's first national title in the Team Performance category since 2011. The previous four titles were in the Jazz category. MCC finished fourth in the Junior College Jazz this year.
The squad spent Saturday and Sunday competing at the Dance Team Union (DTU) College Classic for the first time. MCC claimed the DTU National Championship in Open Team Performance with a score of 89.04. St. Ambrose University was second with 87.80, and Baker University with 85.40. The team also finished in second place in Open Jazz with a score of 90.06, just 0.21 points behind Avila University in first with 90.27.
