Highlanders drop two games at Weatherford
The #18 McLennan Highlanders dropped both games of today's doubleheader with the #8 Weatherford Coyotes in Weatherford.
Weatherford took game one 4-2 with Alex Wallace taking the loss on the mound for the Highlanders.
McLennan began the scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth. Aidan Kuni and Deiten Lachance both singled. Owen Smith singled to score Kuni, and Mac Rose reached on an error. Lachance then scored as Brecken Menuet hit into a double play.
All four of the Coyotes' runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Louka Daoust reached on an error and Kevin Duran singled. Dayton Tockey walked, loading the bases. Tyler Moody then single to score Daoust and Duran. Kanon Wells then doubled to score Tockey and Moody.
Game two was a 14-4 run-rule win for Weatherford with John Carmichael taking the loss for the Highlanders.
The Coyotes scored eight runs in the second inning. Trace Mazon and Daoust both singled Miguel Luevano also singled, scoring Mazon. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Duran. Preston Newberry then singled to score Daoust, and Luevano scored on an error. Kanon Sundgren reached on another error, scoring Newberry. Wells singled, and Uriah doubled to score Sundgren and Wells. Tockey then singled and advanced on an error, scoring Walters, and Daoust singled to score Tockey.
McLennan's four runs came in the top of the fourth inning. Kuni, Lachance and Sam Flores all singled. Rose drew a walk, scoring Kuni, and Lachance scored on a fielder's choice by Gavyn Jones that put Rose out at second. Walker Freeman then singled to score Flores, and Smith single to score Jones.
Weatherford sealed the win with six runs in the fifth. Luevano singled, Duran walked and Newberry singled, loading the bases. Sundgren walked to score Luevano, and Wells singled to score Duran and Newberry. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Sundgren scored on a ground out by Walters. Wells advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball, and Tockey walked. Mazon was hit by the pitch and Daoust was given the intentional walk. Tockey then scored on a sacrifice fly by Luevano to end the game.
