Highlanders clobber Cavaliers
The McLennan Highlanders continued their non-conference week with a 10-1 victory over the Bossier Parish Cavaliers this afternoon in Louisiana. Alex Wallace picked up the win on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out four in three innings of work.
Aidan Kuni began the scoring with a solo home run for the Highlanders in the top of the first.
McLennan added a run in the third. Landon Underhill was hit by the pitch and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Xander McAfee. Daniel Harden drew a walk, and Mac Rose singled to score Underhill.
Bossier Parish's only run came on Hayden Stringfellow's solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth.
The Highlanders responded with two runs in the sixth. Rose, Kuni and Deiten Lachance all singled. Sam Flores then singled to score Rose and Kuni.
McLennan added four runs in the top of the eighth. Lachance singled and scored on a triple by Flores. Owen Smith then singled to score Flores, and Gavyn Jones followed with a two-run homer.
The final Highlander runs scored in the ninth as Kuni singled and Lachance followed with a home run.
