Highlanders & Rebels split
The McLennan Highlanders and Hill Rebels split the conference doubleheader today at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan got the 9-0 shutout in the opener with Alex Wallace picking up the win on the mound. Wallace allowed one hit and two walks while striking out 10 in 6.2 innings.
The Highlanders scored two runs in the first. Daniel Harden led off with a triple and score on a single by Aidan Kuni. Deiten Lachance singled, and Owen Smith singled to score Kuni.
McLennan's final seven runs came in the second inning. Brecken Menuet singled, and Harden and Kuni were both hit by the pitch to load the bases. Lachance singled to score Menuet. Harden scored on a fielder's choice by Flores, and Kuni score on an error. Owen Smith was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Marcus Smith walked scoring Lachance. Landon Underhill followed with a single to score Flores, and Marcus Smith scored on another error.
Hill defeated McLennan 6-4 in the nightcap with Lucas Kelly taking the loss on the mound.
The Rebels score three runs in the first inning. Robert Ashley singled and Nolan Kutney reached on an error. Viggo Lopez followed with a three-run homer.
Another Hill run scored in the second. Bryce Tabor was hit by the pitch and Garrett Smith singled. Ashley then singled to score Tabor.
Mac Rose's solo home run put the Highlanders on the board in the fourth.
The Rebels added another run in the fifth. Smith singled and Ashley was hit by the pitch, both advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Derick Andiarena. Smith then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kutney.
McLennan added two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Deiten Lachance walked and scored on a double by Sam Flores. Rose then doubled to score Flores.
The Highlanders' final run came in the sixth inning. Landon Underhill was hit by the pitch and advance on a sacrifice bunt by Brecken Menuet. Aidan Kuni then singled to score Underhill.
Hill rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the ninth. Dylan Darnall single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Martinez. Garrett Smith then singled to score Darnall.
