Highlanders crush North Central
The McLennan Highlanders crushed the North Central Lions with two 12-0 run-rule wins at Bosque River Ballpark. The Highlander pitchers shined on the mound. Clayton Freshcorn allowed just one hit while striking out nine in the opener in the six innings, and Kade Bing pitched a perfect game in the nightcap, striking out five.
In game one, the Highlanders scored two runs in the first inning. Daniel Harden singled, and Aidan Kuni and Deiten Lachance both walked, loading the bases. Brodey Williams also walked, bringing Harden in to score. Kuni then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Flores.
McLennan added four runs in the second. Brecken Menuet singled, Walker Freeman walked and Harden singled to load the bases. Menuet scored on a fielder's choice by Mac Rose that put Harden out at second. Freeman scored on a sacrifice fly by Kuni. Deiten Lachance singled, and Williams doubled to score Rose and Lachance.
Two more Highlanders scored in the fifth. Williams walked and Flores singled. Williams was out at home on fielder's choice by Landon Underhill. Flores and Underhill both stole a base, and Flores scored on an error. Walker Freeman then doubled to score Underhill.
McLennan ended the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Rose singled and advanced to third on a pair of balks. Kuni and Lachance both walked, loading the bases. Williams walked to score Rose, and Flores doubled to score Williams, Kuni and Lachance.
The Highlanders'a domination continued into game two with four runs in the bottom of the first. Harden and Kuni were both hit by the pitch. Lachance followed with the three-run homer. Flores also hit a home run two batters later
Three more McLennan runs scored in the second. Harden, Rose and Kuni walked the bases loaded. Harden scored on a sac fly by Lachance, and Rose scored on a sac fly by Williams. Flores then singled to score Kuni.
Two Highlander runs scored in the third. Harden hit a solo home run. Kuni then walked and scored on a double by Lachance.
The final three Highlander runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Flores walked, advanced to second on a fielder's choice by Underhill, and scored on a fielder's choice by Menuet. Freeman followed with a two-run homer.
