Highlanders & Bulldogs split doubleheader
McLennan picked up the 11-6 win in the opener with John Carmichael getting the win in relief of starter Devin Bennett.
The Highlanders scored two runs in the first. Daniel Harden drew a lead-off walk but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Mac Rose. Aidan Kuni followed with the two-run homer.
Navarro took the lead with three runs in the top of the second. Matt Houston was hit by the pitch and McCann Libby walked. Jacob Simpson then hit the three-run home run.
McLennan took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Deiten Lachance and Gavyn Jones both singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Sam Flores walked, loading the bases. Owen Smith the singled to score Lachance and Jones.
Five more Highlander runs scored in the fifth. Phoenix Meza single but was out on a fielder's choice by Rose. Kuni walked, and Jones reached on an error, scoring Rose. Flores then singled to score Kuni. Brecken Menuet walked, and Smith singled to score Jones and Flores. Menuet then stole home on a double steal.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the sixth. Lachance walked and Jones singled, both scoring on a double by Flores.
The Bulldogs scored three in the seventh to round out the scoring. Jack Opoien walked and Ryan Alexander doubled. Opoien scored on a balk, and Alexanders scored on a wild pitch. Braden Gostisha followed with a solo home run.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs defeated the Highlanders 5-4.
Navarro scored two in the top of the first. Simpson reached on an error and stole second, and advanced to third on a passed ball. Bryce Jones walked, and Simpson scored on a passed ball. Gostisha doubled, and Jones scored on a sac fly by Theo Kummer.
McLennan took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Harden drew a lead-off walk. Kuni and Lachance followed with back-to-back home runs.
The Bulldogs retook the lead with two runs in third. Simpson walked and advanced on a passed ball. Gostisha then singled to score Simpson. Gostisha stole second and scored on a single by Kummer.
Another Navarro run scored in the fifth as Simpson scored and came around to score on a fielder's choice by Jones.
The Highlanders final run came in the bottom of the sixth. Kuni walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Lachance also walked. Kuni advanced on another wild pitch and came in to score on a single by Rose.
