Highlanders fall to Meridian
The McLennan Highlanders fell to the Meridian Eagles 12-2 in five innings of their second game at the Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic. Jonah Conradt took the loss on the mound.
Meridian scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Blaise Priester was hit by the pitch and Landon Houston followed with a two-run homer.
Two more Eagles runs scored in the second. Chris Watson singled, and Eli Huebner was hit by the pitch. Jacob Scott followed with a single to score both runners.
Meridian scored four runs in the third. Ross Polizzi and Watson both singled. Huebner doubled, scoring Polizzi and Watson. Drew Williams followed with a two-run homer.
The Highlanders two runs came in the top of the fifth. Mac Rose single and Daniel Harden doubled. Rose scored on a wild pitch, and Harden scored on a ground out by Landon Underhill.
Meridian scored four runs in the fifth to seal the win. Polizzi doubled and scored on a double by Watson. Huebner singled to score Watson, and then came around to score on an error. Cooper Chaplain's solo home run ended the game.
McLennan will face Miami Dade or Chattahoochee Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday.
