McLennan & Cisco split baseball doubleheader
The McLennan Highlanders and Cisco Wranglers split today's conference doubleheader in Cisco.
McLennan took game one 7-1.
Cisco's only run came in the bottom of the fourth. Josh Overbeek singled and Blake Hubble drew a walk. Dylan Broadway then singled to score Overbeek.
McLennan took the lead with four runs in the fifth. Aidan Kuni walked and scored on a double by Xander McAfee. McAfee stole second and scored on single by Rodric Black. Elijah Rodriguez followed with a two-run homer.
Two more Highlander runs scored in the sixth. Ty Johnson led off with a double and advanced to third on an error. Cole Dillon walked, and Britton Moore singled to score Johnson. Kuni was hit by the pitch, loading the bases, and Dillon scored on a sacrifice fly by Black.
The final McLennan run came in the top of the seventh as Rodriguez singled, advanced around to third on an error and scored on a ground out by Jason Hawkins.
Cisco took the nightcap 10-8.
McLennan began the scoring with four runs in the top of the first. Rodriguez reached on an error and Dillon was hit by the pitch. Johnson followed with a double to score Rodriguez, and Moore was hit by the pitch. Kuni singled to score Dillon and Johnson. Brodey Williams walked, and Moore scored when Katcher Halligan hit into a double play.
The Highlanders added a run in the fourth. Rodriguez singled and Dillon walked. Johnson then singled to score Rodriguez.
Cisco took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Nick Hill singled and scored on a double by Hubble. Jack Cue singled, and Hubble scored on an error. Tyssac Noland singled to score Cue, and Idelfonso Garcia and Kenny Dutka both reached on errors. Overbeek followed with a single to score Noland and Garcia. Dutka advanced on an error and scored on a fielder's choice by Broadway.
The Wranglers added a run in the bottom of the sixth. Broadway singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Weston Duncan. Hill reached on an error, and Hubble walked to load the bases. Cue then singled to score Broadway.
Cisco added three more runs in the seventh. Dutka walked and Overbeek singled. Kyle Williams followed with a three-run homer.
The Highlanders scored three in the top of the eighth to cut into the Wrangler lead. Williams walked and Sam Flores was hit by the pitch. Jake D'Altrui also walked, loading the bases. Williams scored on a ground out by Rodriguez, and Dillon walked. Flores scored on a passed ball, and Johnson singled to score D'Altrui.
McLennan had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth but couldn't capitalize.
