No. 7 Highlanders defeat San Jacinto
The No. 7 McLennan Highlanders came from behind to defeat the San Jacinto Ravens 10-9 this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
San Jacinto began the scoring with two runs in the top of the third inning. Derek Gippson walked and Jacobe Foster doubled. Gippson scored on a sacrifice fly by Jay Kelley, and Ryan Flores doubled to score Foster.
The Ravens added a run in the fourth. Miguel Morales singled, Gippson walked and Foster was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Kelley was also hit by the pitch, scoring Morales.
Two more San Jacinto runs scored in the top of the fifth. Jake Bennett and Brady Christansen both singled, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a double by Keegan Knutson.
McLennan got on the board with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jake D'Altrui and Elijah Rodriguez both walked and advanced on a ground out by Jason Hawkins. D'Altrui scored on a passed ball. Ty Johnson and Aidan Kuni both walked, loading the bases. Rodriguez scored on a ground out by Blake Hansen. Britton Moore then singled to score Johnson and Kuni.
The Ravens added two in the sixth as Foster was hit by the pitch and scored on Kelley's homer run.
The Highlanders also scored two runs in the sixth. D'Altrui led off with a solo home run. Rodriguez singled and Hawkins walked. Rodriguez stole third and scored on a sac fly by Johnson. .
San Jacinto's final two runs came in the top of the eighth. Foster doubled and stole third. Flores walked, and Bennett doubled to score Foster. Flores then scored on a ground out by Christiansen.
McLennan tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Rodriguez singled and Johnson walked, both scoring on a double by Hansen. Moore walked, and Xander McAfee singled to score Hansen.
The Highlanders stole the win with a run in the bottom of the ninth. Sam Floes walked and was replaced by pinch runner Logan Williams. Rodriguez was given the intentional walk and Brodey Williams also walked, loading the bases. Kuni also drew a walk, scoring Williams and ending the game.
