McLennan Highlanders win one-run thriller over Tyler
Blake Hansen came through with the walk-off RBI-double in the bottom of the 10th inning this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark to give the No. 3 McLennan Highlanders the 10-9 victory over the Tyler Apaches.
McLennan score three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Elijah Rodriguez drew a lead-off walk and Aidan Kuni reached on an error. Blake Hansen followed with a double to score Rodriguez and Kuni. Hansen advanced to third on a fly out by Britton Moore and scored on a ground out by Sam Flores.
The Highlanders added a run in the second. Karson Krowka was hit by the pitch and Jake D'Altrui singled. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Rodriguez. Krowka then scored on a wild pitch.
Another Highlander run scored in the fourth. Flores was hit by the pitch, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Brodey Williams then reached on an error, scoring Flores.
McLennan made it an 8-0 lead with three runs in the fourth. D'Altrui led off with a single. Rodriguez and Kuni were both hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Hansen singled to score D'Altrui and Rodriguez. Kuni then scored on a sacrifice fly by Moore.
Tyler got on the board with six runs in the sixth. Cam Creuder walked, Zach Zarko singled, and Jake Vobbe singled to load the bases. Colby Harris singled to score Creuder. Rene Galvan walked to score Zarko, and Caden Queck was hit by the pitch to score Zobbe. Jake Castillo walked to score Harris. A fielder's choice by Thomas Soto brought Galvan in to score. A sacrifice bunt by Jaron Lyness brought Queck in to score.
The Apaches added another run in the seventh. Vobbe walked and advanced around to third on a pair of passed balls. Vobbe then scored on a sacrifice fly by Harris.
McLennan added a run in the bottom of the seventh as Mateo Zeppieri singled and scored on a double by Krowka.
Tyler tied the game with two runs in the top of the eighth. Queck singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Castillo. Soto doubled, and Castillo scored on a ground out by Lyness. Creuder then singled to score Soto.
The Highlanders' winning run came in the bottom of the 10th inning. Krowka was hit by the pitch and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by D'Altrui. Rodriguez was given the intentional walk, and Hansen doubled to score Krowka and end the game.
