The No. 3 McLennan Highlanders swept today's doubleheader with the No. 7 Cowley Tigers at Bosque River Ballpark.
The Highlanders defeated the Tigers 3-1 in the opener with Will Clements getting the win and Trey Cehajic getting the save.
Cowley's only run of the afternoon came in the top of the first inning as Jadyn McNealy singled, advanced around to third on an error and scored on a single by Trayson Miller.
McLennan tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first. Elijah Rodriguez led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jason Hawkins. Chase Brown then singled to score Rodriguez.
The Highlanders took the lead with a run in the fourth. Logan Williams walked and advanced around to third on a single by Xander McAfee. Williams then scored on a sacrifice fly by Karson Krowka.
The final run Highlander came in the bottom of the sixth. Jake D'Altrui and Rodriguez both singled and advanced on another sacrifice bunt by Hawkins. Brown was given the intentional walk, loading the bases. D'Altrui then scored on a passed ball.
Stefan Stahl picked up a 2-0 shut-out victory on the mound for the Highlanders in game two with Will Glatch getting the save.
Both McLennan runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brodey Williams led off with a double and Krowka singled. D'Altrui walked to load the bases. Williams scored on a ground out by Rodriguez, and Krowka scored on a single by Blake Hansen.
McLennan and Cowley will complete the three-game series with a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
