Shawn Trochim has served as McLennan’s athletic director since 2004. She took over the position after spending 10 years as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. During her tenure as athletic director, McLennan teams have claimed 23 national titles, 17 conference championships, and have featured 108 All-Americans and 215 NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete honorees.

Trochim is also one of McLennan’s Title IX Deputy Coordinators, and serves as the NJCAA Region V Women’s Coordinator and Chairman of the Greater Waco Sports Commission board.

Trochim began her McLennan coaching career in 1994 as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. A year later, she was hired as a full-time assistant. She held that position for nine years, including a one-year stint as both assistant coach and associate athletic director.

During her playing career at Waco High School, Trochim was twice named to the Super Centex and All-District teams. After graduating in 1988, she played basketball at McLennan and twice nabbed NTJCAC All-Conference and All-Region V honors, in 1989 and 1990. The Houston Chronicle named her the No. 2 junior college prospect in the state in 1990.

After graduating from McLennan, Trochim moved on to Texas A&M University where she played for two years and captured numerous awards. She worked as a student coach at Texas A&M for one year and received her bachelor’s degree in recreation, park and tourism sciences in 1994. In 2001, she received her master’s degree in education from Tarleton State University. She was inducted into the Waco ISD Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

She is married to Ed Trochim, an athletics administrator for Waco ISD. The Trochims have two daughters: Rhein Carmichael, a volunteer assistant for the McLennan Softball team and Kadyn, a sophomore on the Pittsburg State softball team.
