#11 McLennan clobbers Cisco
The 11th-ranked McLennan basketball squad clobbered the Cisco Lady Wranglers 82-48 to start the second round of conference play this afternoon at The Highlands.
It was all McLennan from the opening tip as the squad opened on a 9-0 run including five points from Jalayah Ingram. Sarah Racaud put the Lady Wranglers on the board with a pair of free throws, temporarily halting the run. McLennan responded with a pair of jumpers from Tajenae Gooden and Danai Lewis before Ella Ando scored the first Cisco field goal four minutes into the game, 13-4. McLennan outscored the Lady Wranglers 15-5 down the stretch to lead 28-9 after the first quarter. McLennan continued to dominate in the second quarter, extending the lead to 26 at the half, 47-21.
Cisco stepped up in the third quarter, opening the frame on a 13-3 run to trim the McLennan lead to 16, 50-34 with 6:48 to play. Three points from Danai Lewis started an 8-0 McLennan run, giving the squad the momentum to hold off the Wrangler rally. McLennan led 64-41 going into the fourth and outscored Cisco 18-7 in the final period to secure the lopsided win.
Jalayah Ingram led McLennan with 14 points and Charnelle Hoof added 13. Tajenae Gooden and Andrea Johnson scored 12 and 10, respectively.
