McLennan Highlassies defeat Ranger in tournament opener
The McLennan Highlassies opened the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Tournament with a 46-43 victory over the Ranger Lady Rangers in the quarterfinal round.
The low-scoring affair was a tight game from the opening tip to the final buzzer. McLennan led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter but Ranger came back to take the 3-point advantage at halftime, 23-20. The Highlassies rallied in the third to lead 32-30 going into the final quarter and held off the Lady Rangers in the final period to seal the win.
Miannah Little led the scoring for the Highlassies with 12 points.
McLennan advances to the semifinal round and will travel to Sherman to face the Grayson Lady Vikings Saturday at a time to be determined.
