Highlassies win nail biter at Cisco
The McLennan Highlassies went on the road and are returning to Waco with a 67-64 win over the Cisco Lady Wranglers.
It was a nail-biter game from start to finish and a tail of two halves... Cisco seemed to have the momentum early on as they held the 9-7 lead at the first-quarter media timeout. The Lady Wranglers pushed their lead to five at the end of the first, 20-15, and led by eight at the second quarter timeout, 27-19. McLennan began to chip away at the lead late in the first half and trailed Cisco by three at intermission, 34-31.
The ball began to bounce more in favor of the Highlassies. McLennan pulled within one 37-36 early in the third quarter but the Lady Wranglers held the 42-39 advantage with 4:47 to go in the period. The Highlassies rallied and took the lead at 43-42 with a Miannah Little 3-pointer. McLennan would lead by one 48-47 going into the final period. The two teams traded the lead in the fourth quarter. Cisco led 53-51 with 7:25 to play. McLennan led down the stretch and held off a Cisco comeback with critical free throws from Jaidyn Fontenette and Miannah Little in the final seconds of play.
Miannah Little led the Highlassies with 22 points. Mersadez Nephew and Brielle Dorsey chipped in 13 and 11, respectively.
