McLennan Highlassies stomp Cisco
The McLennan Highlassie picked up their second conference with a 79-49 thumping of the Cisco Lady Wranglers at The Highlands.
Scoring was scarce in the first quarter with Cisco leading 6-5 with 5:50 to play in the period. The Highlassies began to pull away using a 10-0 run highlighted by a pair of buckets from Mersadez Nephew. McLennan led 15-6 with 1:20 remaining in the first. Cisco ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to three after the first period, 15-12.
The Highlassies held the Lady Wranglers to just two points in the first five minutes of the second quarter. McLennan scored 12 points, including five points from Mele Kailahi, in those five minutes to extend the lead to 13, 27-14. The Highlassies led by 10, 37-27, with 22 seconds to go. Judith Moya nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to put McLennan up by 13 at the break, 40-27.
McLennan pushed the lead further starting the third, opening with back-to-back 3-pointers from Nephew as part of an 8-0 run. The Highlassies continued to pour in the points in the quarter, holding Cisco to 12 points in the frame as they extended the lead to 24, 63-39. A 2-0 run to open the fourth gave McLennan its largest lead at 67-39 and with the game comfortable in hand, the Highlassies cruised the remainder of the way to the lopsided win.
Mersadez Nephew led McLennan with 22 points. Miannah Little and Mele Kailahi scored 15 and 13, respectively. Brielle Dorsey added 12.
