Highlassies fall to Blinn
The McLennan Highlassies closed out 2015 with a 70-61 loss to the Blinn Buccaneers at The Highlands.
The game was close throughout the first quarter. The game was tied at 11 with 1:56 to go in the first period and Blinn led 16-13 after one quarter. The Buccaneers began to pull away in the second quarter and took a double-digit lead into the break, 31-21.
Blinn extended the lead to 15, 37-22, with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. McLennan used a 7-0 run over the next minute to cut the lead to eight, 37-29. The Buccaneers extended the lead to 14 with 18 seconds remaining in the period and held the 52-41 advantage at the end of the third. Blinn led by as many as 17 in the fourth. The Highlassies began to rally late in the quarter, cutting the lead to eight with 20 seconds to go but it wasn't enough to overcome the Buccaneers.
Sophomore Tayla Taylor led McLennan with 15 points and Ariana Sanders added 13.
