Highlassies come up short against Weatherford
Late surge by Weatherford secures win
The McLennan Highlassies fell to conference-leading Weatherford 90-84 on Saturday at The Highlands.
McLennan led 10-9 with 14:42 remaining in the first half. Weatherford used an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to build a seven-point lead, its largest of the the half. The Highlasies responded with a 14-2 run to take the 24-19 lead with just over six minutes left in the half. The Lady Coyotes fought back, taking the lead less than two minutes later and held the 40-38 advantage at the break.
The game was tied at 64 with 7:41 to play. Weatherford took the 70-64 lead with 6:26 to go. McLennan cut the lead to one with 3:48 to play, but the Lady Coyotes pulled away in the final minutes to secure the win.
Shanice Davis led the Highlassies with 17 points and Rae'Vaughn Barnes added 14. Sha'de Adedapo and Ashley Bean scored 12 and 10, respectively.
