Highlassies top Cisco
Barnes leads McLennan scores, Wynn records double double
The McLennan Highlassies topped the Cisco Lady Wranglers 88-80 on Saturday afternoon at The Highlands.
The game was close throughout the first half with neither team achieving a double-digit lead. McLennan built an eight-point lead with 6:10 to play in the half. Cisco fought back, taking the 34-33 with the 1:38 on the clock. The Highlassies ended the half on a 6-0 run to take the 39-34 lead into the locker room.
The Lady Wranglers cut the lead to one with 8:49 remaining in the game. McLennan used a 9-0 run in the next two minutes to take the first double-digit lead of the game, 72-62. The Highlassies extended the lead to 13 on the next possession. Cisco pulled within seven with just over two minutes to go but was unable to get any closer.
Sophomore Rae'Vaughn Barnes led the Highlassies with 16 points. Freshmen Kaylin Roher and Kendra Wynn added 16 and 14, respectively. Sophomore Ashley Bean and freshman Amani Davis scored 11 points each. Wynn pulled down 13 rebounds to record a double double.
McLennan returns to action tomorrow, traveling to Hill. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
