Highlanders shut out Cisco in pair of run-rule wins
The McLennan Highlanders traveled to West Texas today and are bringing home two run-rule wins over the Cisco Lady Wranglers.
McLennan got the 14-0 victory in the opener with Kynlei Chapman going the distance in the circle.
The Highlanders jumped out to a five-run lead in the first inning. Mickayla Tosch singled, stole second and scored on a single by Trinity Allen. Macie Jansky singled and advanced on a Cisco error, scoring Allen. Jansky then scored on a sacrifice fly by Aynsli Lawson. Ally Thompson reached first and advanced to second on an error before scoring on a single by Ellie Loveless. MJ Nicholson then reached on an error, scoring Loveless.
McLennan scored four more in the third. Allen was hit by the pitch, and Jansky singled. Lawson reached on an error, scoring Allen. Thompson also reached on an error and Loveless walked to score Jansky. Nicholson then singled to score Lawson and Thompson.
Five Highlander runs scored in the fourth. Jansky walked but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Lawson. Lawson stole second and advanced to third on an error. Madison Levsey walked and stole second. Alyssa Moreno then singled to score Lawson and Levsey. Nicholson also singled and Madison Garcia tripled to score both runners. Delanie Roeder walked, and Tosch singled to score Garcia.
McLennan continued its dominance in the second game, with Landrie Harris picking up the 18-0 victory in the circle.
The Highlanders scored one in the top of the first inning as Tosch walked and scored on a double by Allen.
McLennan added six more runs in the second. Loveless was safe on a dropped third strike and Nicholson singled. Loveless scored on the double steal, and Garcia doubled. Tehya Pitts then singled to score Nicholson and Garcia. Tosch was hit by the pitch, and Allen single to score Pitts. Tosch then scored on a ground out by Lilli Piersons. Thompson also grounded out, scoring Allen.
The Highlanders tacked on five in the third. Nicholson and Garcia both singled and Pitts walked, loading the bases. Tosch singled and advance on an error, scoring Nicholson and Garcia, and Allen doubled to score Tosch. Allen then scored on a sacrifice fly by Piersons.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with six runs in the fifth. Pitts led of with a single, advanced on a ground out by Roeder and scoring on a wild pitch. Allen and Piersons both singled, and Thompson reached on an error to load the bases. Levsey singled, scoring Allen. Nicholson then singled to score Piersons. Garcia followed with a triple to score Thompson, Levsey and Nicholson.
