The #1 McLennan Highlanders rolled over the #4 Temple Leopards this afternoon to remain undefeated on the season, 36-0.
McLennan got an 11-2 run-rule win in game one with Taryn Batterton in the circle.
The Highlanders took the lead with one run in the bottom of the first. Taylor Meier singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Mickayla Tosch. Trinity Allen then singled to score Meier.
Temple took the lead with two runs in the second. Lily Garcia singled and Emily Delgado walked. Both runners advanced on a passed ball. Maveryck Lightfoot singled to score Garcia, and Delgado stole home on the double steal.
The Highlanders scored three in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. Chesnee Faile walked and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Madison Garcia. Ellie Loveless followed with a two-run homer, and Tosch hit a solo home run.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the third. Madison Hornback hit a solo home run. Faile then walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single by Garcia.
The Highlanders sealed the run rule with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Tosch singled and Allen walked, both scoring on a double by Kyla Heine. Katia Reyes followed with a two-run homer. Hornback was hit by the pitch and Faile walked. Both runners stole a base and Hornback scored on a sacrifice fly by Loveless.
Brinly Maples picked up the 6-0 shutout victory in the circle for game two.
McLennan scored two in the first as Meier singled and scored on Allen's home run.
Another Highlander run scored in the second as Garcia singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a double by Lilly Rocha.
McLennan added a run in the third with Allen's solo home run to lead off the inning.
The Highlanders scored one in the fourth as Faile doubled and scored on a Rocha double.
The final McLennan run came on Reyes' home run in the bottom of the fifth.
