McLennan gets pair of run-rule wins over Ranger
McLennan Softball picked up a doubleheader sweep of the Ranger Lady Rangers this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark with a pair of run-rule victories.
McLennan took game one 10-2 in five innings with Reese Taylor getting the win in the circle.
McLennan scored four runs in the bottom of the first. Kenzie Chambers led off with a single and stole second. Melayna Lopez and Caitlyn Wong were both hit by the pitch to load the bases. Lindsey Evans followed with a double to score all three runners. Sidney Campion then tripled to score Evans.
Two McLennan runs scored in the second. Rosemary Rivera led off with a double. Chambers walked and Lopez was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Rivera scored on a sacrifice fly by Wong, and Chambers scored on a sacrifice fly by Evans.
Ranger's two runs both came in the top of the fourth. Victoria Palomares reached on an error, Everly Carey walked and Mariah Mayuga reached on an error, loading the bases. A fielder's choice by Jaylan Meraz put Palomares out at the plate. Carey and Mayuga then scored on a McLennan throwing error.
Four runs for McLennan in the bottom of the fourth secured the run rule. Rivera reached first and moved to second on an error. Chambers singled and Rivera stole home. Wong walked, and Evans followed with a sacrifice fly to score Chambers. Pinch hitter Genesis Rodriguez doubled to score Wong, and Julia Herzinger singled to score Rodriguez.
Game two was an 8-0 shut-out win for McLennan over Ranger with Haven Stanley in the circle.
Two McLennan runs scored in the first. Chambers drew a lead-off walk, stole her way around to third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lopez. Wong followed with a solo home run.
McLennan added four runs in the second. Rodriguez and Trochim both singled, and Chambers walked to load the bases. Lopez followed with a single to score Rodriguez. All runners were safe on a fielder's choice by Wong, scoring Trochim. Chambers came in to score on an error, and Herzinger singled to score Lopez.
Another Wong home run in the bottom of the fourth put McLennan up 7-0.
Herzinger then ended the game with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth.
McLennan travels to Ranger Saturday to complete the four-game series with a noon doubleheader.
