McLennan Softball drops final game in Louisiana
McLennan Softball closed out the final day of the Chipola Invitational with a 10-1 loss to the host Lady Indians in Youngsville, Louisiana.
Chipola took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first. Haley Sandridge singled and Haley Eubanks drew a walk. Sandridge came around to score on a McLennan error and Eubanks scored on a single by Yana Islamova.
McLennan's only run came in the bottom of the first as Cydney DeLeon drew a lead-off walk and scored on a double by Sophie Wideman.
The Indians rounded out the scoring with eight runs in the third inning. Eubanks was hit by the pitch and replaced by pinch runner Carlee Coburn. Mikayla Lewin singled and Islamova walked, loading the bases. Natalie Kopicova singled to score Coburn and Lewin. A fielder's choice by Jaylin Kindles scored Islamova and put Kopicova out at second. Kindles advanced to second on a McLennan error and Thais Uyema was hit by the pitch. Ava Worthy then singled to score Kindles. Sandridge followed with a single to score Uyema, and Eubanks singled to score Worthy and Sandridge. Eubanks then stole second and third, and scored on a McLennan error.
McLennan will host Bossier Parish for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at Bosque River Ballpark.
