McLennan defeats Vernon to advance in regional tournament

The McLennan Highlassies defeated the Vernon Lady Chaparrals 3-0 this afternoon to stay alive in the elimination bracket of the Region V North Tournament in Weatherford.
Emily Klanika picked up the win in the circle, allowing four hits and striking out seven.
All three of the McLennan runs came in the top of the third inning. Kaelin Morkisch and Olivia Lantigua both singled. Sophie Wideman followed with a single to score Morkisch. Kaitlin Richards then reached safely on an error, allowing Lantigua and Wideman to score.
McLennan advances in the elimination bracket and will face Grayson or Weatherford at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
