McLennan Softball players earn all-conference honors
Six members of the McLennan Softball squad were named to the 2019 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference team as voted on by the coaches.
Sophomore pitcher Emily Klanika was named the conference Co-Pitcher of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection. A right-hander from Pflugerville, Klanika recorded an 11-5 record in the circle during conference play with a 2.58 ERA and 113 strikeouts. Sophomore third baseman Emeri Eubanks and freshman catcher/first baseman Sophie Wideman were also first team selections. Eubanks, a West native, had a .404 batting average in 32 conference games with 10 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 30 RBIs. Wideman, a Midway graduate, recorded a .357 batting average in 31 conference games with eight doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 19 RBIs.
McLennan's second-team all-conference selections included outfielder Olivia Lantigua, outfielder Kaelin Morkisch and shortstop Arianna Perales. Lantigua, a sophomore from San Marcos, recorded a .345 batting average with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs and 17 RBIs in the 32 conference games. Morkisch, a freshman from New Caney, also appeared in all 32 conference games, recording a .330 batting average with 10 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Perales, a University graduate, recorded a .343 batting average with eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and 23 RBIs in the 32 conference games.
