Highlassies run rule Cisco
McLennan Softball picked up another conference victory with a 10-1 run rule over the Cisco Lady Wranglers this afternoon in Cisco.
The Highlassies began the scoring with a run in the top of the first as Kaelin Morkisch singled and scored on a double by Olivia Lantigua.
McLennan added a run in the second. Arianna Perales led off with a double and moved to third on a ground out by Rebeca Fajardo. Charley Avery drew a walk and Perales scored on a passed ball.
Another McLennan run scored in the third as Sophie Wideman doubled and scored on a single by Emeri Eubanks.
The Highlassies increased the lead to 4-0 with another run in the fourth. Fajardo walked and stole second, and Brooke Arnold singled. Arnold then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Avery, and Fajardo scored on a ground out by Morkisch.
McLennan added three runs in the fifth. Kaitlin Richards singled and was replaced by pinch runner Destiny Sanchez. Wideman followed with a two-run homer. Perales doubled and was replaced by pinch runner Genisa Marrero-Carter. Marrero-Carter then stole third and scored on a Cisco error.
Cisco got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fifth as Everly Carey walked and scored on a double by Sarah Welsh.
Another three McLennan runs crossed the plate in the sixth. Richards and Wideman both singled and scored on a double by Eubanks. Perales then singled to score Eubanks.
McLennan continues conference play Thursday, traveling to Temple for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
