Ten McLennan athletes, four teams earn national academic awards
Ten McLennan Community College athletes were among 1,963 student-athletes from across the nation named to the NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards list released today.
Gunner Cash (men's golf), Zach Johnson (baseball) and Kaylin Roher (women's basketball) received the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement for a GPA between 3.80-3.99. Summer Dolezel (softball), Mason George (baseball), Ashley Mills (softball), Bruce Popp (men's golf), Hunter Shattuck (men's golf), Leeza Valdez (softball) and Braxton Wilks (baseball) received the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement for GPAs between 3.60-3.79.
McLennan's baseball, men's golf, women's golf and softball teams were named NJCAA All-Academic Teams. To qualify, teams must hold an overall team GPA above 3.0. The baseball team had a team GPA of 3.13, men's golf had a team GPA of 3.54, women's golf had a team GPA of 3.61 and softball had a team GPA of 3.36.
