The McLennan Highlassies and Weatherford Lady Coyotes split today's conference doubleheader in Weatherford.
McLennan defeated Weatherford 4-2 in game one with Ashley Mills getting the win in the circle and Stacey Underwood picking up the save.
Weatherford's two runs came in the bottom of the first. Kelsie Fairbanks led off with a single and scored on a triple by Molly Holliday. Holliday then scored on a bunt single by Alex Kovacs.
The Highlassies tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth. Natali Duron led off with a single. Taylor Davis followed with a double. Jessica Garcia was then safe on a Lady Coyote error, bringing Duron in to score. Davis then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sevanah Campos.
McLennan sealed the win with two runs in the sixth. Davis was safe at first and advanced to second on a Weatherford error. White followed with a single and moved to second on a throw to the plate as Davis scored. White moved to third and came in to score on back-to-back flys outs by Garcia and Campos.
The Lady Coyotes won the night cap 1-0 with Underwood taking the loss.
Carlie Jenkins' home run in the bottom of the first was the only run of the game.
McLennan returns to action one week from today, traveling to Grayson for a 1p.m. doubleheader.
