Highlassies sweep Trinity Valley
Duron goes 4-6 on the afternoon
The McLennan Highlassies swept the Trinity Valley Lady Cards on Wednesday afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan took game one 3-1 with Stacey Underwood getting the win in the circle.
Trinity Valley began the scoring with one run in the top of the second as Shelby Reddington singled and scored on a double by Dayna Reynolds.
The Highlassies tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second as Sevanah Campos reached first safely on a Trinity Valley error, advanced around to third on an overthrow and scored on a sacrifice fly by Summer Dolezel.
McLennan sealed the win with two runs in the fifth as Amber Mills singled and scored on a home run by Natali Duron.
The Highlassies took the nightcap 9-2 with Ashley Mills picking up the win.
McLennan got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first. Amber Mills drew a lead-off walk. Duron followed with a fielder's choice, putting Mills out at second. Taylor Davis followed with a single. Duron scored on a sacrifice fly by Abby White. Davis then scored on a single by Campos.
The Highlassies added five runs in the third. Amber Mills, Duron and Davis all singled. A Trinity Valley throwing error brought Mills and Duron in to score. Davis moved to second on the error and scored on a double by White. White scored on a single by Campos. Campos then stole second and scored on a single by Dolezel.
Trinity Valley scored one run in the top of the fourth as Reddington singled, moved to second as Carly Castaneda was hit by the pitch and came around to score on back-to-back McLennan errors.
The Lady Cards added one run in the fifth as Erica Jordan singled, advanced to third on a double by Reddington and scored on a single by Reynolds.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with one run in the bottom of the sixth. Leeza Valdez singled, moved to second on a ground out by Amber Mills, advanced to third on a foul out by Duron and scored on a single by White.
The Highlassies host the McLennan Classic on Friday and Saturday. McLennan will face Galveston at 1:30 p.m. and Kilgore at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
