Highlanders finish in fifth at Andrews

The McLennan Highlanders shot 281-279 – 560 to finish in fifth place at the Andrews Collegiate/Amateur Invitational to open their fall season.
 
Wayland Baptisth finished in first place with 274-273 – 547, followed by New Mexico in second with 271-278 – 549. Odessa and Midland tied for third with 281-275 – 556 and 279-277 – 556, respectively.
 
Harvey Denham shot 68-68 – 136 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for fourth place.
 
Other McLennan scores: Abe Bignell, tied for 13th, 70-70 – 140; Robert Gonzalez, tied for 18th, 72-71 – 143; Luke Beckman, tied for 20th, 75-70 – 145; and Cason Ayers, tied for 30th, 71-79 – 150.
 
Other team scores: Western Texas, sixth, 285-285 – 570 and Ranger, seventh, 296-308 – 604.
 
McLennan will host the Waco River Classic Sept. 16-17 at Bear Ridge Golf Club.
