Highlander Golf jumps into top 10 in NJCAA poll
The McLennan Highlander golf team jumped seven spots to 10th in the latest NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Rankings. The Highlanders received 56 points in the voting.
Midland (Texas) moved into the top spot with 94 points, followed by Central Alabama, the previous No. 1, with 93 points. Ranger (Texas) moved 10 spots into third with 86 points. Indian Hills (Iowa) and Hutchinson (Kansas) round out the top five with 85 and 83 points, respectively.
Both Midland and Ranger compete in Region V with the Highlanders. Other regional opponents in the poll include: Odessa, sixth, 75 points; New Mexico, ninth, 58 points; and Western Texas, 14th, 36 points.
The teams will compete in the NJCAA National Championship Preview Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Odessa Country Club. The next rankings will be released at the conclusion of the fall season.
