Highlander squads finish first & third in Dr Pepper Classic
The McLennan Orange team shot 280-294 – 574 and the McLennan Blue team shot 296-295 – 591 to finish in first and third place, respectively, of the Dr Pepper Classic hosted by MCC at the par-72, 7,114-yard Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
Sophomore Mason Mikeska shot 69-70 – 139 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for first place with Jonty Marshall of New Mexico, 67-72 – 139. Mikeska won the tiebreaker.

A trophy was awarded for the lowest team score according to the Maxwell scoring format. Maxwell scores are calculated using the four lowest scores for each hole. McLennan Orange claimed the Maxwell trophy with a two-day total of 553. New Mexico A was second with 558 and McLennan Blue was third with 566.
The Highlanders will compete in the Tyler Junior College Fall Invitational Oct. 21-22 in Tyler.
