McLennan men's golf finishes third at District II Championship, punches ticket to 17th consecutive national tournament
The McLennan Highlanders qualified for the program's 17th consecutive NJCAA National Tournament with a third-place finish at the NJCAA District 2 Championship. The Highlanders shot 279-273-291 – 843 at the par-71, 6,977 Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene.
Midland finished in first place with 280-274-280 – 834 followed by New Mexico in second with 285-279-277 – 841.
Matt Lorentzen shot 67-69-69 – 205 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for third place.
Other McLennan scores: Caden Honea, sixth, 69-67-73 – 209; Mason Mikeska, tied for 15th, 71-68-75 – 214; Trent Leffingwell, tied for 20th, 73-69-74 – 216; medalist Will Fore, tied for 20th, 73-68-75 – 216; Brayden Marnell, tied for 24th, 72-73-75 – 220; and medalist Parker Scaling withdrew.

Scores from the District II and Southwest Championships were combined to determine the four qualifying teams for the national tournament.
