The McLennan Highlanders demolished the Our Lady of the Lake Saints 126-54 tonight to close out the opening day of the McLennan Classic.
It was all Highlanders from the opening tip. McLennan scored seven in the opening minute and took the first double-digit lead at 12-2 with 17:05 to go in the first half. Our Lady of the Lake pulled with seven before the Highlanders used a 15-0 run to break the game open. McLennan continued to roll and led 68-26 at the half. The second half appeared much the same as head coach Kevin Gill used the time to rotate different groups of players onto the court.
Seven Highlanders scored in double figures led by Daylon Dickerson with 20 points. Antwone Gonzales had 18 points and Jude Lambert scored 14. Mason Lockhart chipped in 13. Jhaden Brown, Logan Anderson and Evan Chatman scored 10 each.
